A Coleção de Protozoários (COLPROT) conta com um acervo de mais de 500 isolados de tripanossomatídeos, com amostras representativas de praticamente todos os gêneros da família Trypanosomatidae, com uma fantástica abundância tanto de variedade quanto de representantes de cada grupo. Esta Coleção conta com diversos isolados de Trypanosoma cruzi (obtidos de pacientes e animais silvestres), diversos representantes do gênero Trypanosoma, como: T. evansi, T. brucei, T. conorhini, T. desterriensis, T. freitasi, T. lewisi, T. rangeli, T. vespertilionis, T. mega, T. cervi, T. ranarum, T. avium. A Coleção alberga ainda uma ampla variedade de tripanossomatídeos de insetos e plantas, com representantes de mais de 8 gêneros diferentes, e protozoários de vida livre como Euglena, Bodo e diversas amostras aguardando a caracterização. Os isolados que compõem a Coleção de Protozoários representam tanto amostras-referência, como isolados obtidos por pesquisadores e depositados exclusivamente nesta Coleção.
