A coleção de Culturas de Fungos IOC (CCF-IOC/FIOCRUZ) foi fundada em 1922, com o objetivo de preservar cepas de interesse médico. Atualmente a coleção se situa no Departamento de Micologia, e possui aproximadamente 1.700 cepas, divididas em 14 gêneros e 573 espécies, representando os grupos taxonômicos pertencentes a Zygomycota, Ascomycota, Basidiomycota e na sua maioria de fungos mitospóricos. As cepas são provenientes de diversos substratos como solo, ar, material vegetal, animal e humano com representação geográfica diversa, sendo a maior parte da América do Sul.
