A Coleção de Culturas de Bactérias de Origem Hospitalar, acrônimo CCBH, situa-se no Laboratório de Pesquisa em Infecção Hospitalar (LAPIH), que realiza análise bacteriológica, epidemiológica e molecular de cepas bacterianas oriundas de infecção hospitalar. Nessa coleção estão preservadas cerca de 8.000 cepas de bactérias representativas de 30 espécies distintas dentre as mais freqüentes cita-se: Staphylococcus aureus meticilino resistente (MRSA), Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Acinetobacter baumannii, Enterobacter cloacae, Entrobacter aerogenes e Serratia marcescens, isoladas de casos septicemias, meningites, penumonias entre outros. Além daquelas oriundas de surtos hospitalares ocorridos em diversas regiões do País. As linhagens são fornecidas, para pesquisadores de diversas instituições públicas e privadas, nacionais e internacionais. Além disso, a coleção realiza diversos serviços tais como: a manutenção, preservação e distribuição de culturas, caracterização taxonômica e análise genotípica.
A CCBH conta com o apoio da FINEP, FAPERJ e CNPq, sendo filiada à World Federation of Culture Collections, WFCC (WDCM 947) e fiel depositária no Conselho de Gestão de Patrimônio Genético, CGEN (N° 022/2010) como subcoleção da CCBS
